Reze-Tiana Wessels

Since her graduation in 2018, PALI alumna Reze-Tiana Wessels has gone from strength to strength in her career.

Reze is currently a regular on the local telenovela “Diepe Waters” and is also known for her work in “7de Laan”, the films “Tjops vir Brêkvis”, “Alomtjom” and the international slasher film “Slumber Party Massacre”.

According to Reze the most important skill an actor needs is the ability to listen.

“As actors we need to react to what is being said or done. If you understand the listening aspect of acting it will open so many doors to where you can take a scene”.

Other than being a talented actress, Reze is also a skilled dancer.

“I’ve danced professionally but have now started using my skills to teach the younger generation. I’ve also started my own choreography business where I teach couples their first dance for their wedding.”

Reze says that one of her favourite memories during her time at PALI is definitely the friendships she found among her fellow students.

"...you should learn that every ‘no’ is one step closer to your ‘yes’."

“We supported each other and still do after all these years. My favourite student play was definitely Rumors by Neil Simon which we did for our final third year play, directed by the wonderful Tash Hadjinicolaides. I played Claire Ganz which was an incredibly fun character to play. It was probably the hardest play we’ve done and emotionally challenging.”

When asked whether she has any advice for aspiring actors, Reze responded:

“Never give up. There will be many hardships and you should learn that every ‘no’ is one step closer to your ‘yes’. Rejection is part of your journey in acting and you should definitely embrace it. Learn from your past mistakes. Ask questions about what you could have done better and work on it. We are constantly learning and adapting and if we stop learning then we have no space for growth.”
