What are you currently working on and in which capacity?

I was contacted by Media24’s in-house production company, Pop24 to join their new short form department. Ever since joining as Senior Production Manager in May 2025, we have grown the department exponentially and have established it as a fully fledged advertisement production wing with full production, content and post-production teams. We have worked with clients like Takealot, Woolworths, Capitec, and many more.

When did you realise you would like to pursue a career in the entertainment industry?

The entertainment industry has always been a very big part of my life, with my father being a professional Opera singer. Thus, I grew up watching theatre and opera since I can remember. A young-talent-scouting company visited my primary school in 2008 and explained some of the aspects regarding the television and film industry. Me, as a 10-year-old, was immediately hooked and told my parents this is what I want to do with my life. The love just grew from there, and the rest is history.

Is there a specific production that you worked on that you are particularly proud of?

I would say that Qatar 2022 Live is a project that I’m very proud of. Doing live entertainment in Doha, Qatar during the 2022 FIFA Soccer World Cup with artists like Jason Derulo, Black Eyed Peas, etc. on such a big scale was a life changing experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

What is your favourite memory of your time at PALI? Was there perhaps a favourite production?

It’s hard to pinpoint an exact favourite memory, as there are so many that I’ll carry with me for very long. The people you meet, the lessons you learn and the craft that shapes you. I must say that a production I remember our whole group laughing the most, will probably be Laat Waai, Kaptein!

You have quite a diverse skillset – everything from acting to production management. Do you think it is important as an artist to have multiple industry related skills?

It is definitely important to be able to wear different hats on different productions. But it is also important to lock in on not too many different roles. Producers get angsty when they see you have worked over a lot of departments across different projects. My advice is, get yourself 2 or 3 roles and focus on perfecting them. That way you are safer when work gets scarce, but still able to deliver a good job.

What advice do you have for aspiring artists?

Keep at it. I’m into my sixth-year full time in the industry, and looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. Most of us are entertainers at heart, and we have the unbelievably lucky task to entertain people. Every piece from the editors to the performers are the glue that make up this beautiful industry we work in. Times get tough and sometimes you feel like giving up, but your hard work is the reason that viewers are entertained. Keep at it.
